Brij Bhusan Saran Singh is an Indian politician currently a Member of Parliament from the Kaiserganj district of UP. He is a member of the Bhartiya Janta Party(BJP). He was also the president of Wrestling Federation of India(WFI).
Brij Bhushan was born on 8 January 1957 in a Rajput family of Uttar Pradesh. His father’s name is Jagdamba Sharan Singh and his mother’s name is Srimati Pyari Devi Singh. He completed his graduation from Saket P.G. College of Ayodhya. He is married to Ketki Devi Singh and has three sons and a daughter.
As per police records, 38 criminal cases were registered against him between 1974 – 2007. All the cases were filed for various charges including murder, dacoity, criminal intimation, Attempt to murder, and Kidnapping. His elder son Shakti Sharan Singh committed suicide in 2004 with a licensed pistol and blamed his father’s selfish attitude in a suicide note.

Brij Bhusan Saran Singh Political Career
Brij Bhushan Saran Singh has been elected six times as a Member of Parliament, Five times from Bjp and once from Samajwadi Party’s Ticket. As the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate in the Gonda constituency of Uttar Pradesh, he was elected to the 10th Lok Sabha in 1991.
He was re-elected to the 13th Lok Sabha in 1999 from the same seat, and he was re-elected to the 14th Lok Sabha on the BJP ticket in 2004 from the Uttar Pradesh state seat of Balrampur. He was ousted by the BJP for cross-voting in the parliament during the 2008 Lok Sabha vote of confidence, and on July 20, 2008, he joined the Samajwadi Party.
He was re-elected to the 15th Lok Sabha in 2009 from the Uttar Pradesh state seat of Kaiserganj. Later, months before the 16th general election, he became a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, and he currently represents the party in the 17th Lok Sabha

Controversy with Sakshi Malik
In January many athletes including Olympic Medalist Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat had started a protest against Wrestling Federation of India’s(WFI) President Brij Bhusan Saran Singh. They mentioned that Brij Bhushan has sexually assaulted some female wrestlers, One of them is minor.
This Controversy started in January 2023 when champion wrestler Vinesh Phogat started receiving calls from young wrestlers. They mentioned that In Lucknow, a national wrestling camp was being organized, and on these calls, the girls said that the atmosphere was not safe here for girls. They said that WFI president Brij Bhushan Singh had sexually assaulted them.
After that many wrestlers have came in support and started doing protest in Delhi, However their is no such evidence of their allegation found. WFI has postpone the camp after the protest. The news gone viral in a few days and many more girls have came forward. In an interview, Vinesh Phogat said that first, there were 2-3 girls who could prove sexual harassment with proof but now , there are 5-6 girls have came forward.
After the interview went viral, Brij Bhushan Singh said that all the allegations were baseless and that even if one girl can prove that I have done something wrong then I should be hanged. He said that the wrestlers participating in the protest will not be able to get any medal for India after this. The reality is they are angry with some rules and are protesting in this frustration. This protest is being sponsored by a big businessman. He said that not all wrestlers are protesting only a few are protesting.
Apart from this controversy, Brij Bhusan Saran Singh was named as an accused in Babri Masjid demolition case. He was also accused for sheltering sharp shooters of a notorious criminal group for sheltering. He ones in an interview confessed a crime of murdering a person who was the main accused in killing his friend.
Why Sakshi Malik quit wrestling after WFI Election?
Sakshi Malik on Thursday in declared of resigning from wrestling as Brij Bhushan loyalist Sanjay Singh become the new chief of WFI. His panel had won 13 of 15 post in WFI election. Sakshi Malik in an interview said that we demanded a women president. If the president would be a women, Then their will no such cases of harassment would happen, She added that we had fought with our complete strength but the fight will continue. She was a bronze medalist in Rio Olympic.
